The Opportunity

When we first connected with the Simbian founding team in early 2024, the company had built something audacious: an autonomous AI security platform that could orchestrate an enterprise's existing security tools using generative AI.

The cybersecurity market was flooded with point solutions — each solving one narrow problem and requiring dedicated staff to manage. Simbian's approach was fundamentally different: instead of adding another tool, they built the orchestration layer that makes every existing tool smarter.

The founding team had deep enterprise security experience and a clear technical vision. We saw the same pattern we look for in every investment: domain expertise paired with architectural ambition.

We moved quickly to co-invest alongside Cota Capital, Icon Ventures, and notable angels including the CEO of Datadog and the former CSO of Meta.

Our Investment Approach

We participated in the $10M seed round — our capital deployed alongside institutional leads with zero delay.

Our value was not in leading the round but in what we brought after the close: enterprise distribution, hiring networks, and operational experience in scaling B2B security companies.

Within the first month, we made introductions to three CISO-level contacts across Fortune 500 companies for early pilot conversations.

What We Did Together

Capital was only the beginning. Here is what the partnership looked like in practice:

Enterprise Distribution

We activated our network to connect Simbian with enterprise security teams evaluating AI-driven orchestration. Multiple pilots were initiated within the first quarter.

Hiring

We introduced two senior go-to-market candidates from our network — both with deep enterprise security sales experience at companies like CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks.

Positioning

We worked with the founding team to sharpen their narrative from 'AI security tool' to 'autonomous security operations platform' — a category-level positioning shift that resonated with enterprise buyers.

Series A Preparation

We are actively supporting the team in building their Series A narrative, refining metrics, and making targeted introductions to growth-stage funds.

The Results

Since our investment, Simbian has rapidly gained traction in the enterprise security market.

The platform is now orchestrating security operations for multiple enterprise customers, reducing alert fatigue and response times dramatically.

  • The team has grown from the founding core to a focused, high-caliber engineering and go-to-market organization.
  • Enterprise pilot conversion rates have exceeded expectations, validating the autonomous orchestration approach.

The company is well-positioned for a strong Series A in the near term.

Why It Worked

Team

The founding team brought deep enterprise security expertise — they had lived the pain of fragmented security tooling at scale and built the solution they wished existed.

Market Timing

2024 was the inflection point for GenAI in enterprise security. SOC teams were drowning in alerts and manual processes. Simbian arrived with the right solution at the right moment.

Product Architecture

By building an orchestration layer rather than another point solution, Simbian became additive to existing security investments. This removed the 'rip-and-replace' objection that kills most enterprise security sales.

Investor Syndicate

Co-investing alongside proven security-focused funds and operators (Datadog CEO, former Meta CSO) created instant credibility with enterprise buyers and future investors.

Most seed investors in cybersecurity want to see enterprise contracts before they invest. Angels Inn Capital understood that the orchestration layer we were building required conviction in the architecture, not just revenue traction.\n\nThey moved fast, brought real enterprise connections, and their team has been in our Slack helping with go-to-market from day one. The CISO introductions alone have accelerated our pipeline by months.
